So ill start from the beginning.

I purchased the XILS 3 from sweetwater, I receive the email with an activation code.

I then registered the product on the the xils lab website and received an email with a VSSD Redeem Code and a serial number. I then followed the directions in the email and downloaded the latest version of the synth and installed it.

I then launched protools and it isnt showing up at all and I have no clue how to proceed. The directions said that when protools is launched I should be prompted to enter a code but nonetheless that is not the case.

I also tried for experimental purposes downloading the demo and what was interesting is that the demo shows up in protools but when I plug it into an insert the only thing that appears is the header of an insert window as if there were no insert. Very odd. I then made sure that the full version was installed in the same place as the demo was since it should technically show up in protools then.

I also tried running pro tools in admin mode and still no dice.

any help would be awesome.

could you give me more information about your system : Mac, windows ? XP, windows 7 ... , 10.5, 10.6 ... ? Powerpc, MacIntel ? and your protools version.

I just tried the last XILS 3 LE version, on Mac OSX10.6 and Windows XP, protools 8, RTAS, without any problems.

Windows 7 64 bit. pro tools MP.

According to the instructions I should be able to enter a code that I received from you guys in the redeem code area of the ilok website, then install and then it should work.

I have tried every code received from you all and none of them work on the ilok website.

Hi,
I think the issue is from the windows 7 installation.
Could you try the VST version, using an other DAW (the free vsthost for instance : http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm)
Once you have authorized it, it will be authorized for all the other formats/DAW
The code you received from us is the XILS 3 LE serial and isn't related to iLok (only the full version is protected by iLok)

About the windows 7 installation, you need to use an user accessible folder. The default folder displayed on the current XILS 3 LE doesn't work (c:/Program files/XILS-lab) and you must use an other one (for instance c:/Users/Public/Documents/XILS-lab)

You are going to have to help me out with this VSThost thing. How exactly do I use it to authorize it?

Once you have downloaded VSTHost (vsthostx86.zip)
_ unzip (on your desktop for instance) and double click on vsthost.exe (all the settings are saved in a "data" folder)
_ go to "file -> set plugin path" to select your plug-in folder, where the vst plug-ins are saved (c:/program Files(x86)/Steinberg/Vstplugins for instance)
_ select new plug-in and choose XILS 3.dll
_ Click on the knob (close to the "I") to open the GUI

If it crashes, then there is a problem with your XILS 3 install :
You need to reinstall your XILS 3 and select c:/Users/Public/Documents/XILS-lab/XILS 3as your install folder (you can keep the c:/Program File/Steinberg/Vstplugins for the vst folder)

Good news and bad news. I got VSThost to get the XILS3 plugin to show up and I clicked on the 'I' and the window expanded giving me the full view of the plugin but there is a window saying

'Please plug an ilok holding a license for the XILS 3 into the comp and restart plugin'

I have an ilok and have plenty of experience using it but have received no instructions from you guys on how to get a license for this from you guys.

You download and installed the full XILS 3 version which needs an iLok.
You need to download ad install the LE version (which is a complete synthesizer, but without a bunch of new modules)
